These are held in the TenantAdmins group which can be modified by:
Opening MS 365 Admin centre
Click on Roles then Role Assignments
Click on Global Administrator and a panel will open on the right
Click on the Assigned tab in the panel to see your current list of Global Administrators.  They will also be informed of any security alerts produced by Microsoft Defender
